Varying Strength
Knowing your opponents is a huge factor in knowing just how strong your poker online hands are. How many times have you folded 7-2 offsuit (a good move) only to marvel at a 7-7-2 flop? The fact is, there are times when taking a risk on seeing the flop with lousy cards can be worth it, depending on the personality of your opponents.
The cards in front of you are relative-their strength is directly related to the strength of the cards that your poker online opponents are playing and how they play them. If you’ve got a Jack-10 suited, you’re going to want to fold it against opponents who are more likely raise before the flop, since it’s got such a low expectation of hitting the flop. You don’t want to pay more than the big blind (if that) for such a low-ranking hand, and since more aggressive opponents are more likely to raise preflop, it’s better to just fold the hand than to limp in and hope nobody raises.
On the other hand, if your opponents are more passive, you can stand to take a few more risks. Since passive Everest Poker players don’t tend to raise before the flop, you’ve got a much better chance to see the flop by limping in.
