Ski Reductions Are to Be Found because of the Crunch

Would you believe the sterling is fetching a little less than the Euro at Travelex airport counters, you’d believe that there would be a few brilliant ski bargains to be found in snowboarding resorts this ski season as potential skiers remain in the UK to avoid the recession. Initial numbers barely announced show that skiing towns are 81 % booked during the Xmas time period. 15 percent up on the identical time period in 2007.

One will have better luck in January which currently shows a 36 % reserve rate. The signs of a downturn is during the key Feb vacation month that has 62 % reservations, 1 % down on last ski season. Information desks in the skiing resorts of Portes du Soleil, Gourette, Bessans and Les Contamines-Montjoie have seen increased bookings in Nov furthered by the excellent early on ski season snow fall. La Grave has better bookings in comparison to Chamonix, and Brevent enjoyed a great Christmas.

There is strong demand for larger ski chalets, 6 to 11 places, as folk group up to save. Evidence shows that DIY skiing trips are holding up well, evidence perhaps that keen boarders are not going to sacrifice their skiing holiday. Reservations from the big tour operators are down on last year.
